These days, if a Minister for Health was seen to be a heavy smoker, you can be sure the subject would be loudly debated in the press and raised by the opposition in the Dail.
Likewise if it became known that a Minister for Health was a heavy drinker.
So why the conspiracy of silence where the obesity of our current Minister for Health is concerned. And would the same apply if the Minister were a man rather than a woman.
A case of the Harney in the living room, perhaps?
